Eastern Conference:

PG Nets: Kyrie Irving

After the first week of the 2019-20 NBA season, newly acquired Nets point guard Kyrie Irving is second in the league in scoring, averaging 37.7 points per game. Irving began his Nets career with an incredible 50 point (17-33 FG, 7-14 3P), eight-rebound, seven-assist game, coming in a 127-126 overtime loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. With 50 points in his first game as a Net, Irving passed Kiki Vandeweghe (47) for the most points scored in a debut with a new team. Following his historic night, Irving put up another excellent performance against his cross-city rivals the New York Knicks, scoring 26 points (8-19 FG, 2-8 3P) while adding five assists and three steals. Although Irving cooled off from three, hitting only 25% of his attempts, he made them when it mattered, knocking down the game-winning three with 22 seconds remaining. Irving rounded out the week with another stellar performance, scoring 37 points (11-27, 5-12 3P), dishing out seven assists, and grabbing seven rebounds in the Nets one-point overtime loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Western Conference:

C Timberwolves: Karl-Anthony Towns

Karl-Anthony Towns started off the 2019-20 NBA season tallying 36 points (11-22 FG, 7-11 3P), 14 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocks in the Timberwolves one-point overtime victory against the Nets. Towns added a career-high seven three-pointers made, including the game-tying three with 1:06 left in the fourth quarter. Towns followed up his big game by posting 37 points (13-18 FG, 4-7 3P), 15 rebounds, eight assists, four steals, and two blocks in the Timberwolves 22 point victory over the Hornets. In Minnesota’s home opener, Towns led the Timberwolves to a 116-109 victory over the heat, scoring 23 points (8-21 FG, 4-11 3P) whiles adding 11 rebounds and four assists. Through three games, Towns ranks third in the league in points (32.0 PPG) and second in three-pointers made (5.0 3P/game) while leading the Timberwolves to a perfect 3-0 record.
